Called a few shops & managed to get prices for the following...not sure if they r the lowest but its lowest amongst those i've asked & definitely cheaper than the big stores. Got one shop quote reali cheap. After searching around, realised this shop got a pretty nasty reputation for giving display sets...so ppl, beware of Maximu* Cred*t...

1) F&P Fridge - $885 (2yrs warranty+5yrs warranty for compressor/motor??!)

Any advise which one to take? (i) to (iii) is out loh. Asked abt topping up cash to extend LCD tv warranty to 5yrs but aunty explained dat extend to 5yrs warranty only means extended warranty for certain parts. She explained dat alot of ppl dun understd & nv read the T&C carefully before paying up. Not sure if she's speaking the truth but i'll chk it out...

The shop auntie asked me to call back tml cos F&P may b having a X'mas promo soon & i shld be able to get better deals for my fridge. Hopefully, its juz cash discount pls. Dun gv me vouchers...Will be getting them to deliver on 23rd Dec morning. Hopefully can, cos this shop is in Jurong area as well. Lobang was given to Chris by his long-time insurance agent.

My 4" platform at living room windows. Chris's mum is gona get a fit when she sees this. Cos she say her heart feel like jumping out when she open the windows. And she was only standing on the bare tiles.

My MBR platform in the making. ID has repainted the toilet & MBR door frames to the same colour as our metal gate in milky white. I prefer this rather than the pale yellow. Looks more matching to me as im having white+grey wardrobe. Have requested him to repaint all the door frames in this exact colour.

This was when they 1st starting painting the MBR. The pale yellow looks like pale pink in the pic but its actually yellow. Quite gross to me..i msg ID in the middle of the nite to ask him if its ok if paint the door frame to a matching colour.

Happy with the progress so far & im reali excited now cos my carpentry will most likely come next Wednesday. The bomb shelter area will have a simple glass feature wall & my shoe rack. Tv console will be ready & my 2 full height wardrobes both in white & grey. Last but not least, my kitchen cabinets! Not sure if should post up pics thou...thought i shld let u guys see for urself when u all visit my flat so at least there's something to see?

Oh & i've received my PUB bill of $102, LOL. We chose non-giro payment hence the $100 deposit. Will pay when bonus come, haaa...

Viral Infection

Yes, doc told me i kenna dat & im on MC again today. To make myself feel better, i bot myself a cheesecake which i plan to gorge on later. Called my boss this morn & he was appalled at my voice. He said i sounded like a man.

Flat is progressing nicely. The only hiccups are the cracked glass on my 2 bedroom lights. Had to call the light shop, call my ID, to & fro b4 ID asked me to forget it, he will pay for the lights cos no point arguing with the shop & its only $25 per piece -_-" I feel quite bad cos we din reali chk the lights. We only ran our fingers across the glass. So who cracked the glass? No-one noes. ID blasted at his electricians for dat -_- But i figured dat it shld b the electrician's fault cos cant be so coincidence rite? 2 same lights, same crack positions...

ID planned to go down today to purchase but the shop called me to say no stock, next shipment coming in on 5th Dec & told me to go & collect on 7th Dec. Bummer~ Msg ID & he say no prob, juz 7days only mah, plus we arent moving in till X'mas. Ok loh..i juz hate it dat we have to make so many freaking trips to the light shop. My reno has been very smooth sailing except for lights. An advice to all: Buy lights from shops dat r near ur flat. U wun noe how many bloody trips u need to make for all the cork-ups. I drive until i very pek cek..esp at nite. I have mild nite blindness & it was raining. No parking somemore so had to brave the rain to carry those heavy lights, run here run there. Chris got a sore throat..

Will b ordering my coffee table, fridge+washing machine soon. Still tinking abt the LCD tv cos i din noe the 37" dat im intending to get, doesnt have the white+red series. Im considering Sharp Aquos now. Still, my focus will be getting a desktop & study table 1st. I reali have probs getting the study table. I tink i have seen hundreds but there isnt any nice ones. Saw a black tempered glass dining table for an amazing $798. The best part is, one dining chair costs $126. Ho seh...i tink i eat on the floor.

Chris had some new pics again..glad to noe everyday, there r things done at my flat. Heard Chris's mum saying there's no such thing as we offering tea to Ivan+jm during tea ceremony, only they offer to the elders. So means no angbao for me. So means, i will only appear during the wedd dinn, heh~ Shit, i feel like having my own wedd pics. And Chris's mum is pushing us to have one. lalalalalala~ Im looking forward to payday cos Chris asked me to choose my own x'mas & new yr's gift *gasp* He said cos he hardly gets me stuff. Tink i will get an electrolux vaccum cleaner dat im eyeing. I also saw this sleek electrolux microwave at $129 cos i tink its useful for frozen pizzas. Anything good DVD players to recommend gals? I've been reading & researching until im quite sian.

Flu+Fever

Im so sian..caught in the rain the past 2 days & kena a mild fever but worsening flu! Im on PM leave today but i still duno if i shld go BL to take a look at my lights installation. I scared they install the wrong lights -_-"

But im feeling sick & tired & it looks like it's gona rain again...

Painting has been completed but MBR not yet cos the dark grey need a few more coats. Asked ID how many more coats needed & he said as many as its needed to make it look nice. He said he painted more than 7 coats b4 for those bright bright colours cos not easy to paint...I hope not cos it'll mean it takes more time. One prob i have is the door frame colour. My wall is dark grey, door is lousy brown & door frame is pale yellow. It juz doesnt match. Im tinking of getting ID to paint the door frame to white so dat at least can match our white+grey wardrobe. But the door is still freaking brown.

Realised haven bot any doorbell & ID offered to get it for us. I asked him abt the wireless & wired type & he said wireless use up battery v fast so he prefers the wired one actually. End up he's buying one for us & when we asked him to include the cost in the top-up (cos we need to top-up for my tempered glass backing), he said no need cos doorbell so cheap. He's also giving us 2 free halogen lights for my kitchen L-box.

Ytday evening 6pm received a call from Lights Arcade, saying the lights have arrived. We din wana trouble ID to collect today so we went ourselves. Juz nice as i was leaving, i called ID to tell him no need to collect for us today & he was at our flat with his gf, intending to chk the painting progress & take the lights. He waited for us to reach there & told us abt the new tiles he had gotten from HDB to cover up the spoiled wall tile where the water pipe burst.

So now, reali nothing much..except dat today, all lights will be up & ID changing all our switches to those big big buttons type..its not branded i tink but they look nice enuf. All the big big buttons' colours will match the wall colours.

My kitchen will finish last...cabinets will go up 1st b4 ID take measures to cut the tempered glass. Omg, he told me dat its actually his 1st time doing up a combination of stainless steel+tempered glass backing for the kitchen wall *jaw drop* He usually encourage stainless steel only as its easier to cut & less room to make mistakes. I PRAY it'll go well. After dat, then he'll bring in the kitchen sliding door.

By this fri, my 2 platforms in the living room & MBR will be finished & no work will be done from Sat to Tues. 2nd chq has been given to ID so left last payment which will be given during handover of flat.

Ivan's carpentry will b up this coming Thursday...damn fast. ID say very rushed hence our side delayed abit. Our flat will be ready in two weeks...tink by 10th Dec, the flat shld be ready...

More Updates (im so tired!)

Have finally ordered the 4-seater L-shaped fabric sofa from Hecom (Causeway Point). Damage is $629 including 1 extra set of covers. Also ordered our queen-sized mattress + 2 bolsters + 2 mattress protectors from Hecom (Compass Point). Damage is $506...cheap as Hecom is having super big sale now. We have been to OM, Home2be, the Furniture Club at Liang Court but reali...they r reali nice but the price, hai...

We saw a nice simple coffee table at V-hive (Tamah Jurong) which costs $279. Also saw 2 'egg' chairs costing $85 each. Most prob we'll be buying the 3 but we haven place deposit yet cos scared will see nicer ones :)

My flat's progress is considered quite fast but Ivan is even faster. In fact, all his flat is waiting for is the carpentry as his painting has been completed. I saw dat they bot Teka kitchen stuff. Its a good brand i have to admit~ but since his wife does so much cooking, its only fair she gets better kitchenware. She also has a built in oven. Actually, i wonder if the kitchen solid surface top will melt while using the oven? Cos the oven is built underneath & i tink it can get very hot!

Oil-based sealer has been painted for my whole flat & real painting has started :) I love the creamy white & my super white kitchen walls. But the effect of Lily White surprised me abit cos its qutie yellow actually. I wonder if its the light or wat. But still, im not changing cos it looks quite cosy actually. Not so 'cold' like wat Chris said~ I've chosen 3 tones of grey for my living room, my MBR & my study room. Hope can turn out well as dark colours usually harder to paint.

Our false ceiling & suspended L-box has been completed. Im so sian juz now cos ID told us our 8" downlights are simply too big for the flat. My lights installation is on Tues & although im taking PM leave, i duno how to get to balestier w/o a car. ID sms me to say as long as lights got stock on Tue, he will drive there to pick it up for us. Whew...I tink can make it cos Ivan's flat will be done 1st. Alot of extra stuff were done like last min changes in positions of sockets, ligths points & ID did up the extra length of pelmet, all w/o charging extra. Told some of my online frens & seems like alot of IDs will charge extra as long as hey r not stated in contract. Guess reali gota give him an angbao after all this...

The pelmet was actually only stopped at the window. But ID felt it looks weird & called me to ask permission to increase the length. Dats where i'll put my roller blinds.

Im doing this update now while doing my work at the same time ;D

Chris's car tyre puncture! Kaoz...$95 GONE~ And i need to give $80 angbao next mon...super super dry. The only consolation is the bonus next mth. Thou im only getting pro-rated bonus but its better than nothing. Will be combining my bonus with Chris's to buy our tv!

Our false ceiling & suspended L-box are completed. ID called to ask me on some issues, to cfm if im doing blinds/curtains etc & also mms me to update on the progress. Chris's got some free time now & he'll be gg back to our plc to take a look (cos ytday, both of us nv go) then he will go back his camp to work.

Also some changes to my beloved kitchen. Intended to use tempered glass backing but turns out cos i dun have top cabinets, it'll be tough to attach my hood to the tempered glass. End up ID suggested doing stainless steel backing for my stove & hood area while the rest are tempered glass. Yes, the wall behind my kitchen cabinets will be totally tempered glass+stainless steel...with an L-box above + 2 halogen lights. Hope everything will turn out nice....

Painting will start tml & all my lights, hod+hood+kitchen sink+tap, bathrm accessories+storage heater will be arriving tml aftern. Another 1.9K gone. Hopefully tml, there's enuf time to visit some places so dat can cfm my sofa, coffee table & mattress. Also saw a standing light at Chelsea Lightings dat we both like very much. We intend to buy 2 & place them on the living room platform. Uncle quoted us $60 & displayed price is $68. Told ID abt it & he got someone to call the shop & gotten the price of $50. When we r ready to buy, ID will go cash+carry for us. He says no-one will deliver $100 worth of lights one...isit?? But its so near...at Chinese Garden only...

Some good news at last...

Chris's 6K claim for our renovations has been approved & are credited to our joint account. We've also received the refund of the 2K option fee from HDB. Had also received the cash rebate of $3888 from DBS for our car purchase. Im still waiting for my $665 chq from the dental clinic though...

Together with our savings, we r able to afford full furnishings for the whole flat with extra cash left for savings. Of cos, we are trying to keep the costs down as we still have to pay for water+electricity bills, conservancy fees plus reno loan installments on top of our current committments. I will continue to give my mum allowance & chris will continue to pay his share for his current flat.

His current flat water+electricity bill is already over $500. Someone is not doing his job. I guess kim hock will blow up if this mere $500 is not paid after someone gets his bonus. Cos dat someone's take home pay is easily more than 10K. Lets hope dat i do not get to see yet another Pi1 Li4 Hou3 drama scene again.

Sent some pics of the furnishings dat i like to Chris but sadly, he says my choices suck. I realised dat although we have the same idea for our flat but when it comes to colour & furnishings, we r quite different. Dats y now, my flat wun have my ideal look...cos need to compromise with him as half of it, is his as well *sulk* He did give in alot esp my kitchen. I foresee alot of disagreements ahead on the choices of furnishings...

Guilty+Angry+Stressed

My dad juz now offered to exchange hp with me. I dun understd why cos his hp is much better than mine & also quite new. After much prompting, he said he was tinking of exchanging his hp with mine & since i get his hp (which is better than mine), its considered an upgrade & mayb i can give him some cash for dat.

I noe i dun give them alot (in fact, very little) but i duno wat else to do...they juz keep asking & asking & asking. Im juz filling a bottomless pit. I was so shocked he had to resort to this to ask me for cash. I feel guilty but at the same time, i cannt help feeling the anger boiling in me. I noe he has quit again & back to square one.

To make things worse, they have to keep hounding me for the email my bro sent cos he needs some books urgently & wan them to send over asap.

Why cant i have normal parents? Am i being too selfish? I reali wan to move out asap....

Tired!!!

Im tired not cos of the reno but for 2 consecutive days, we've been driving his mum around to HAND DELIVER ivan+jm's wedd invitations. Sori gals, im NOT so stupid to volunteer my services but its cos i dun wish to see Chris too tired from all the driving & waiting around. I swear we've been to no less than 40plcs for these 2 freaking days. Even Kim Hock joined to help cos its reali tiring driving around & waiting aimlessly downstairs while his mum do PR.

I have many many pics for the hse!!! Wiring has been done, drilling has started so dat can install aircon, kitchen tiles have been laid & the plastering is done. False ceiling up tml & paint colours have been cfm :) All are shades of white & grey, no other colour~ Today went to see twice & saw my ID+ 2 workers working on the plastering of my kitchen walls although its a Sunday. One of my water pipes burst on Sat aftern while drilling for the aircon trucking. So water supply was shut off & i was wondering where the heck they got their water from. Must be from Ivan there, haha..cos even if the workers wana use toilets, they have to walk to ivan's blk to use.

Lunchtime Updates

1st time updating my blog in office. Its lunchtime now & my ID called me alot of times juz now, lol.

He was there juz now to measure stuff & this PUB guy tried to cut my water+electricity supply -_-" He was so shocked & immediately called me but he cant get me cos i wasen at my desk. I bet he tried calling Chris but of cos, cannt get him also cos he's slping.

Speak of the devil reali..i only called SP services this morn to make an appt this coming Sat to turn on the supply & to submit my IC as the account will be under my name. Haha..told me ID & he quickly called the guy to let him noe i've already made appt liao loh, heh~

ID called again to recfm wat i wan for my kitchen glass door. He gave me 2 options only & asked if i believe in fengshui, haha..No i dun believe in it but basic stuff i will try to follow loh..in case kenna suay things rite? Dats another reason why im not sure if i shld install a water feature in my hse...cos water feature cannot anyhow position one..

Chris went to the flat & all protective sheets have been laid for the whole hse & my kitchen walls hve been cemented :) Means tml, tiling works will start & my plastering for the kitchen as well...

The aircon ppl will b coming this Sat & ID has asked us to be present as he needs to noe our preferred piping ways. Was worried dat they will charge extra if the aircon pipings turn out to be too long but was re-assured by ID dat they wun dare as long as ID is around. I hope so loh, cos my current hse aircon was installed & bot from Gaincity. My dad kenna chop when he wanted to do the pipings swee swee..cos dat will result in pipings dat are v long. So end up all the pipings were done direct but v ugly. My room is purple but my aircon truckings are painted in white -_- Angry with unethical ppl lidat who dun stick to the quoted prices...

Will be gg to my flat later to view the works again & have dinn with Chris b4 i go home...tink everyday after work, i will go & see :) Its tiring but im rather anxious & excited to see the progress! Dun wish to miss any part of it....So...pics tonite again!

Reno Progress - Day 1

Hi ppl, some pics dat i've taken when i went to spot-chk on my reno, keke. Quite an ulu place~ I took bus 179 & alighted at the 4th stop rite after the 24hr kopitiam. Looks like i'llb sharing my bus journey with many NTU students. For someone with zero sense of direction, the blk was quite easy to find w/o a car! Bravo~

Went to open my letterbox & saw a letter from HDB, indicating dat 17 Nov is the last day to complete my flooring works. Great! Means i can prob see my new tiles tml cos hacking was all done today when i left :)

Tried talking to the 'hacker' but i duno isit cos its too noisy (my neighbour downstairs hacking the WHOLE flat) or he cannt understd me. Then i saw big big stuff for the neighbours on the 16th & 12th floor. I know cos they indicated big big on the boxes. Wonder wats dat. I stood there for a long time & got this uncle looked at me suspiciously, lol.

Dun feel like gg home so went up again. Tink the 2 uncles must have tot im siao. Chatted abit with the thiner guy & i asked if he had eaten. He tot for a super long time but saying 'yes', LOL.

Then i left liao cos i din wana disturb their work plus it was gg to rain soon!! Reali suay...Reached home at 4pm & im shagged. Thou i've only worked halfday today...zzz....

Why cant we do things ourselves?

Why must pass the chq to him to pass to K? K is not rushing us for the chq. Cant we pass to him personally when we meet up so dat we can get our receipt & my suspended drawer's design together? Why must involve another person in this? Isit so difficult? Why must get him to pass the chq to K & get him to collect our own drawings? Dun we need to speak to K as well?

Err..nothing to update abt my reno, gota wait till tml.

So, juz to let ppl noe how expensive daily disposable contact lenses can be:

My left eye is 650 while right eye is 500. So i cannt juz buy one box. In one box, there are only 15 pairs. I felt cheated when they told me 30 contact lenses = 30 individual lenses = 15 pairs only. Means ppl who r wearing daily actually needs to buy 2 boxes for one mth. One box (15pairs) costs $45. I juz spent $90 on 30 pairs of daily disposable contact lenses. Omg...since i only wear one pair per week, my 30 pairs can last me 7mths 2 weeks. I guess $90 for 7mths 2 weeks is fine. But its freaking expensive isnt it? I hope i can do lasik soon~

Went back to Chelsea Lights last evening again to compare the prices & looks like Lights Arcade still gave us a better rate. Slpt at 2am last nite & woke up early this morn to visit POSB at Boon Lay market at 8.30am. Its all Chris's fault cos its his stupid car's instalment again. Zzzz...Anyway, prob solved but im damn irritated at DBS/POSB's inefficiency.

Went RHB to sign the many documents & paid $ to open bank account & pay the processing fees. Now then i realised there's no atm card. Am i stupid or there isnt any RHB atm machine in sg??! Have decided to take the 5yr loan at $409 per mth for a 21K loan at 6.25% interest per annum. Heartpain~ Thanks Kelvin, for answering my many many questions, lol.

Went to new plc to meet Kenneth & the 1st thing he asked me when he reached is, "Can i borrow ur toilet?" LOL Spent 1.5hr going thru the final details & the aircon piping but to be frank, i duno wat the shit they talking. I only noe my kitchen cannt have hot water unless they link the piping the illegal way. So, no thank you, my kitchen no hot water then. Kenneth isnt very supportive of my colour preference. I juz want brillant white for everything but he said dat if everything also white, then i cant even tell if his workers got reali paint the house rite -_- He recommended lily white, dreamy white, creamy white. ZzZzzz..the worse thing is, Chris thinks the same way, lol.

Oh, and Kenneth is trying to rush out the flat for ivan+jm & their handover date is 5th Dec. Possible??! I duno & i dun care but i juz pray our designs wun end up similar. Chris assured me dat it wont cos ivan+jm style is those woody kind whereas i prefer glass. Ok *whew*

Went Jalan Besar & it was pouring like mad. The roads were flooded & we practically walked in the rain. We were intending to head to Adamas to look for Martin but we bumped into him when we were dashing across the road! He was holding an umbrella & he recognised us, haha...he passed me his umbrella & we went back to his shop tog to choose my kitchen sink+tap & my bathroom accessories. Tot he was gg for a late lunch but turns out dat he was bored as it was raining & there wasen any customers (??!?!?)

Next stop was Lights Arcade at Balestier. Went to look for Andrew but he was out & was served by a very pretty ger named Jane :) She rem us & retrieved the quotation dat Andrew prepared for us last mth & recfm everything cos we had some changes.

3) Two kitchen lights

Final stop was Causeway Point. Saw this lovely 4-seater fabric sofa at Hecom Seahorse for an incredible $499. Saw many 3-seaters but i dun like cos they r juz too small. Was so tempted to book the sofa but end up we decided to look around more cos X'mas season coming, sure alot of places also offering good deals. The sofa looks something like below. Extra covers for the whole sofa plus 3 cushions is only $129. Wah lao, we both had a hard time tearing ourselves off from the shop -_- The length is juz nice, near 3metres. Juz rite for our living room.

Came across V-hive & saw this L-shaped tempered glass study table for $329. Looks good but im worried abt the stability. We also saw a black tempered glass one at Courts & its only $299. Guess this will come after the TV. We saw this brand 'Prima' at Courts & it looks great! A 42" is only for 2.5K! Im gg to research more on this brand b4 we decide wat to buy. The classic is still Samsung & it looks fantastic as usual. Its juz more visually appealing, haha... But reali no heart to spend a few K for dat...very xiong..

Haven decide wat brand to get for our Q-size mattress. Tried a few King Koil ones at Metro & now they r having promotion at $729. Quite good rite? We've also tried a few at Hecom Seahorse but those r quite medium hard to hard ones but the best part is the price loh. Abt $500+ only. Headache~

Fridge + washing machine, haha, i've long ago aimed for the models i wan & now, its only waiting for Lee Meng Electrical boss to quote me a good price. Once i can cfm the completion date for my flat, i will order from him liao. Getting the Fisher&Paykel fridge & the Electrolux front load washing machine.

I tink more or less, we r on time for everything. The only prob is the cashflow :( Need to wait for a few chqs to come back to us b4 we have the $ to pay. So...i hope Kenneth doesnt do the reno too fast -_- Else reali not in time to pay for the lights & kitchenware, haha...
