ERP rates set to rise next week

ELECTRONIC road-pricing rates are going up next week.

When the next round of revisions kick in on Monday, it will cost as much as $4 per pass for car owners - the highest since ERP was introduced in 1998.

The new rate is a result of a 50-cent increase for use of the Central Expressway (CTE), East Coast Parkway (ECP) and Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).

For car drivers using the PIE slip road into the CTE between 8.30am and 9am, the 50-cent hike takes the charge up to $4. For drivers of very heavy goods vehicles, this levy is $8.

The new $4 charge is raising eyebrows.

'I foresee 40 per cent of my customers will not take that route,' ventured 51-year-old cabby S.H.Ngiam. 'They will bypass that and cause bottlenecks elsewhere.'

Car drivers passing the CTE gantry north of Braddell Road towards the city will pay $2 between 7.30am and 9am - up from $1.50.

Those passing the ECP Fort Road gantry will pay $1.50 between 7.30am and 8am; $2.50 between 8.30am and 9am and $1 between 9am and 9.30am - up from $1, $2 and 50 cents respectively.

And on the PIE slip road into the CTE between 7.30am and 8.30am, drivers will pay $3 - from $2.50 now.

Charges at all other gantries will remain unchanged.

Transport researcher Paul Barter described the $4 rate as 'kind of alarming', but noted that ERP rates changed according to traffic patterns.

The assistant professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy predicted that the next generation of ERP might 'spread the charges around' to more roads to avoid sharp pricing at isolated gantries.

The Land Transport Authority reviews ERP rates quarterly to 'achieve optimal traffic flow'. 'Optimal' is defined as speeds of 45kmh to 65kmh for expressways, and 20kmh to 30kmh for main roads."

Expressways 45-65kmh???! Siao boh? Ppl drive at 90kmh also kenna horned. And 20kmh....i tink Chris can run faster than the car liao lidat wtf.

Depressed Over Driving

I admit, im a bad driver...I cant even park properly for god's sake. I havent driven for a few weeks already & the last time i drove resulted in a mad quarrel between me & Chris & i sped all the way to the destination. Lucky nv kenna caught by speed camera cos Chris Ang screamed like mad at me. Its so sian to drive beside someone who does nothing but criticise & belittle (whether he means it anot). He keeps saying that he's only 'teaching' me & scold me is for me to get better at driving. Looks like it aint happening & now, i refuse to drive totally. And i reali tink i drive much better w/o him around. So my advise to all: Do not get a driving license. I reali regret getting one.

Reali sick of Mondays...damn blue...By the time i manage to perk myself up & get to work, its near 6pm already :D

Ok, updates on my hair!!!! I cut it damn short...until shoulder-length!!!! Chris say, look the same *sulk* But the aunty say i look younger! Juz wat i need to hear on my bday ;D

We didnt go anywhere last Sat. He juz went to fetch me after my rebonding then we went Giant at Pioneer Mall & bot lamp chops, chicken breast, turkey strips, ham, crabsticks & prawns for a mini grilling session! We used the mini griller dat was given by RHB when we signed up for the reno loan. Tot we'll nv get to use but we did! Twice somemore cos ytday nite, we ate up the remaining food cos Sat nite cannt finish...too much food. But the floor was so oily after dat...had to mop loh~

I noe this is stupid but the brand TOP for indoor drying of wet clothes works! No more smelly clothes & kitchen...amazing...Bot the NTUC brand of fabric softener as well & works very well too. The brand Softlan or something lidat, got an overpowering smell.

Alot of ham was left so we bot bread & i made ham sandwiches for both bfast & lunch today ;D Eating out for 3 meals a day evday is no joke.

Im still tinking how to utilise the Countrymana vouchers. XW has very kindly gave me $30 worth of Countrymana food vouchers! But one catch is, we can only use one voucher for one receipt. Hmm...Chris was saying we could juz ask for 2 separate receipts if we go eat (it expires in April so still got time) but i was saying but left one leh how? He say we go eat outside then go back there juz to hv desserts & la kopi...Hmmm...idea rite? Or i can juz use it when i meet up with u gals? The only prob is, if we can request for separate receipts for one table. I tink shld be no prob loh...shucks...

Resolution of the year: B less cranky towards Chris. Sometimes, i tink he reali suay to marry me :D I get so hot tempered sometimes & snap at him for the smallest thing but his tolerence level is still bloody damn good. Alot of times when he's buay song, it becomes me who's buay song...unfair rite? But he nv gets buay song when im buay song loh...u get the drift? And evtime i juz put on a face or frown, he will noe dat i wan him to help mop lar, wash lar, clean lar, vaccum lar, lol....He will juz do it so dat he can go back to to his tv :D Anytime im hungry, he will juz drive out to buy food for me no matter wat crazy time it is. Last nite i was v bad...felt hungry ard 10pm & i noe he wans to watch The Apprentice at 10.30pm. Told him i wanted him to do something for me but he must tell me he wana do anot 1st :D At e end of it, he was like, u wana eat juz say lar!!!! LOL Turns out he doesnt mind buying 'real food' for me if im hungry but not 'junk food' like cheesecake, choc, bubbletea. I reali shld treat him better -_-" But i wish he'll stop hollering whenever i drive *sulks*

CNY is coming & Chris asked his mum if the relatives will be visiting our place. She wasen sure but she says she dun tink so cos they gather to play mahjong & stuff, so dun tink they will camp at youngsters' plc. Which is good lar else we have to top up ALOT of drinks & titbits plus i tink my place will stink like mad. We were tinking of buying 'mei2 hua1' to decorate our living room.

Ok, will update more if i decide to dye my hair..I cant make up my mind cos i hate to see dark roots. Chris is hoping i wont :D

"i remembered this incident i came across in a foodcourt months ago. I was there having dinner with my hubby and my girl. A few tables next to us came a family of four. dad, mum, 4-5 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. Both Dad and mum went to buy food and asked the elder girl to reserved the place by sitting there and also to look after her younger brother. The brother was hopping around the table, refuse to sit on the chair despite his sister's request. Then came one point the boy decided to run round the foodcourt and disappear within seconds. The sister cried out for the parents in fear yet she doesn't dare to leave the table to chase after the brother as she suppose to 'reserve' the table. Both parents came back with the food, then the father went to look for the brother. Guess what the mum says to the girl? She accused her of not loving the brother, always fighting with him, that's why he ran away. "If you love him, why would he want to run away".... I couldn't believe my ears! First of all, it's too heavy a responsibility to ask the girl to look after such a mischievious boy while also having to reserve the table. It doesn't hurt to have one parent with them! And the best part of all, the biy didn;t even get a scolding when he came back with the father. The mum just fed him food so lovingly while the sister was crying out of fear and guilt. My hubby and i really can't help but give them a dirty look (don't know they notice or not)cos we just couldn't believe it!..... We thot the boy deserve to be spank for not listening to instructions! I would love to spank him myself! Still feel so angry and pity the girl whenever i recall this incident. With a family like that, how to grow healthy???? Feel like giving the mother a tight slap to wake her up."

Thks alot to all those who turned up at my hse last Sat! XW+Ken, JW+Vince, my CPF ex-colleagues & one soon-to-be neighbour who happened to drop by cos they need to chk up on their own reno :) Thks for the angbaos, the red wine, the fondue set :) And one of my ex-colleagues wrote in the card, "May the New Year be full of Prosperity & Productivity". Chris sniggled when he saw dat.

Abit paiseh for the lack of variety of food but glad 80% was finished ;D Cos no microwave lar, v hard to reheat food loh. I tink i need a microwave, a deep fryer, a slow cooker & a rice cooker. Its reali ex to eat out for every meal. Even if both of us eat $5 for dinner everyday, its a whopping $35 per week. Plus we go out on weekends, so its worse loh. Reali need to cook for weekend meals but i TOTALLY hate the washing up. I tink im quite a weakling cos now my fingernails sting & my back ache. I tink its the cleaning up..but i nv do much also leh..cos i only mopped the living room. Bedrooms cant reali mop cos its all parquet..i only wipe around with the Magic Mop. And btw, the Magic Mop arent very useful so pls dun buy. Its great to clean the walls & ceilings thou :) Shit, im being an auntie & im approching mid-twenties.

Would be arranging another gathering rite b4 or after CNY for some good old mahjong & DVD watching. I do have a DVD player now but Chris hasen figured out how to connect the wires or something. He says when i wana watch then he go Ivan's plc to see how Kim Hock connected for them. But....JP can rent DVDs boh? So ex to buy...im tinking of getting girly shows like 50 First Dates, Charlie's Angles, Legally Blonde etc. Watched The Day After Tomorrow last nite on Star Movie Channel & reali touched me very much. If one day, global warmings reali take a turn for the worse & cause North poles' ice to melt...we'll have to gona face another New Ice Age...damn scary...

Last Fri evening, i went JP NTUC with Chris to buy drinks & stuff & coincidentally, saw Chris's mum. I duno why but she juz looked not v hapi...i mean, even b4 she saw us lar..She was alone & looking at some food stuff. Chris wanted to fetch her home cos we were paying at the same time but she say no need & left on her own in super record time. Chris called her when we went back to the car to see where she was but she nv answer her hp also & i dun tink she called back.

Back at work today & im reali getting the Mon blues...no-one seems to come on time but i reached at 7.30am today. But im lucky lar, cos i've been asked to do OT :) Bosses all very nice & my direct reporting is a malay female who's only a yr older than me & she's great to work with cos she's v chin chai ;D

Went for supper with Chris juz now cos hungry. On the way home, met a real rude merc cab loh. Im quite free now & dun feel like slping so decided to email a complaint to Citycab in the name of Chris ;D

"14 January 2007 at 1.30am, i was travelling along Jurong West Ave 1 and was waiting to turn right at the T-junction that leads to Corporation. SHB1717D (merc cab) stopped in the yellow-box at the T-junction to pick up passengers. When the lights turned green, i started to turn right but it was still stationary in the yellow box without hazard lights on. I gave a light horn and high beam to alert the cab as my car and a biker were unable to proceed. Thereafter, both of us travelled along Corporation with me behind. It started to turn left to Boon Lay Ave and began slowing down to a stop soon after before turning on the hazard lights. Hence i changed lane to overtake it. After being overtaken, it started to high beam me from behind right until i stopped at the cross junction as i was heading to Jurong West Central 1. It turned left to Jalan Boon Lay after gesturing to my wife.

In the first place, it is not allowed to pick up passengers in the yellow-box. Secondly, slowing down unnecessarily and putting on the hazard lights thereafter in order to high beam me from behind is provocative and inconsiderate. Thirdly, gesturing to a lady (my wife) to show his unhappiness is uncalled for.

I understand that cab drivers work long shift resulting in exhuastion and hence unable to concentrate at times. It is, however, not correct to display unprofessional and provocative attitudes when it is in the wrong especially when it compromises the safety of other road-users.

Perhaps, the driver of SHB1717D who was driving in that area at the time of 1.30am, be given counselling and refresher courses on road safety as well as improve his mannerisms.

Overall, most of the Citycab drivers i've met are polite and safe drivers. I would appreciate a reply on your follow-up actions pertaining to this unfortunate incident."

Last nite, Chris managed to slp b4 11.30pm!!!! Wat a feat!!!!

This morning, a rather plump guy wearing the navy uniform displayed the true singaporean spirit when boarding the train. Yup, he dashed in like a big boar when the mrt door opens. Guess where he alighted? Lakeside ;D Dats like, one stop (for ppl who duno abt the west mrt line).

Also, after the big boar alighted together with some passengers, some ppl boarded again. This time, there are 3 empty seats. 2 men, apparently close frens i believe (from the way they kept slapping each other's back), occupied the 2 seats cos they cannt seem to keep their legs closed *tsk tsk* Somehow, mayb their manhoods r too large or mayb they juz dun wish 2 squeeze their precious balls, so have no choice to sit with their legs OPEN WIDE :D Cant help staring at their groins. I noe im gross but i tink they r worse.

Its been raining again & its a pain in the ass to have 2 bring umbrellas everywhere i go. Last evening was terrible cos although i was seated in the mrt, the top was dripping water like mad! When i reached the mrt, had to wait for ages for Chris to come & fetch me cos he juz cannt wake up. Reali v fed-up with him until he washed the dishes, folded the clothes, washed his own underwear & slpt b4 11.30pm :) I shld get fed-up more~

Singaporeans

I tink i was msging XW abt it ytday morning. I simply cannt stand some of the ways of our fellow Singaporeans. Our next generation are gona turn out to be selfish dumbasses who duno the meaning of SHAME.

I reach the BL mrt every morn abt 7.05am. If i reach SK mrt at this time, there's SURE to be seats. But for BL, wait long long hor cos its simply too crowded. But if u manage to stand rite at the entrance of the mrt when it arrives, u do have a 70% chance of getting a seat.

I was standing near the entrance but not too near cos i dun wan to risk falling into the mrt tracks *shivers* I waited for 5mins but still, not one train arrives. But its 'too early', the train frequency not so high. Then, as i was daydreaming, there were these 2 young boys barely 6yrs old. They pushed me & another guy to stand rite at the entrance. I din bother cos young kids wat rite, who cares wat they do. But the minute the mrt arrives, b4 passenagers can even alight, i heard one KNN si char bo at the back urging the 2 boys in a loud voice "Go Dennis go, juz go!!!" when the boys were sort of waiting for the passengers to alight. So they pushed thru & of cos gotten 3 seats by using a hand to 'chope' the seat for the si char bo who's their mum! Unluckily, i manage to get a seat next to the mum who slowly swayed into the mrt & sit next to her 2 boys. The best part has yet to come. They alighted at Jurong East~

U see, i dun understd this at all. BL to Jurong East is a mere 4 stops!!!! One stop mayb abt 3mins only? Stand 12mins will die???! I realised dat most of the kiasu ppl who push & elbow thru their way into the mrt in the morn are those who alight b4 Clementi. This is reali crap loh...the stupid mum is juz setting a wrong example for her young sons. So these 2 boys will grow up to be un-gentlemen who dash their way into the mrt & pretend to fall aslp when pregnant ladies & elderly stand near them.

Another type of useless bums is those who lean against the poles in the mrt so dat they can read papers. Normally, i tink its fine but not during peak hours. Isit reali dat impt?? Die die must read in the mrt? Its already so crowded but still not auto at all & take up even more space by reading the papers.

There is also this weird habit dat i've noticed in my office building. Ppl dash home the minute its 6pm. Fine...but the prob is, when i enter the life, its 9th floor, 10th floor being the highest. In order to get to the mrt faster, i see ppl pressing both the 'open' & 'close' buttons & amazingly, the lift will bypass all other floors & go to the 1st floor in super fast speed.

But there r entertaining incidents too. One is this woman who applied FULL make-up while standing in NEL. Its totally amazing. She applies moisturiser, slaps on foundation, did her eyebrows & curled her eyelashes. Followed by mascara, blusher & lipstick. A few ppl like me were openly staring at her but she totally bo-chap. And kept inspecting her face with her mirror thereafter. Sibei good...Its like digging ur nose in public but she did it with 'flair' & speed.

Another annoying thing is ppl who fall aslp in the mrt & u happen to b the unlucky one who sits beside him/her. Everytime the mrt starts/stop, his/her head & the whole body will lean towards u. I duno isit juz me but i HATE body contact of any kind in the mrt. Unless its so crowded & its so bobian else i rather stand than sit beside those slpy idiots. Yeah, i noe its not their fault for being slpy but its certainly not mine! Kaoz kaoz kaoz.

Oh yes, and those who cough w/o covering the mouths. Such ppl quite common in NEL & they usually alight at Chinatown, lol. Old folks...

Im getting pissed with members of the public who juz keep calling my line to ask me wat happens if they nv attend court, they submit appeal already but no response, wat to write if need to submit appeal, can send him/her an acknowledge dat we have receive liao, ask abt who's the one in charge etc. These r the kind of ppl who dun engage their own counsels & call to expect free legal advice from us. Im sori dat im not legally trained & im not paid dat kind of $ to dish out advice. If im dat capable, i wouldnt be answering ur bloody calls. No-one asked u to scold vulgarities at the police rite? No-one forced u to speed, no-one asked u to tamper with parking coupons & pls dun go MoS to molest char boh can? By the way, Mustafa always kenna shoplifting cases ;D Dun hapi hapi go beat ur wife & expect leniency or cook up the excuse dat although ur alcohol limit is way over the legal limit, no accidents occur, no-one is injured & u only intend to drive to the nearest petrol station to pee. U drink & drive, u juz jolly well pray there's no roadblock or nv kenna accident else later like Christopher Lee how?

Ok, enuf of complaining..its a good day to complain. Chris supposed to run marathon but was cancelled due to the rain & he's now on his way home to snooze. I tink he's gg to slp real late again tonite & im gg to end up real tired again tml. I hope tml comes fast cos i need some decent rest...

Now dat its over, feel quite bored :D I juz changed the bedsheets & washed the clothes..vaccum whole hse already. Today had free New Yr's buffet at Supreme Court & won a bottle of red wine at the Lucky Draw!! So lucky rite? But i wished they have given my NTUC vouchers instead. And wat if a muslim colleague had won the wine?? Cos i tink they cannt drink wine loh...Great food & most imptly, alot of yandaos...i tink lawyers are born to be good-looking, lol.

Ex-boss & colleagues coming my hse on 13th jan..Good cos i've juz gotten my pay & can at least order some food for them cos im totally dry loh..Frens have asked me out for dinner but reali gota wait abit cos im reali quite broke now. So gals, let me plan abit so at least when u all come, bu4 hui4 zhao1 dai4 bu4 zhuo1...Most prob b4 CNY...

Everytime i open my letterbox, i see bills! Bloody IRAS already sent an invitation letter for us to pay property tax & TV license by GIRO. Goodness shit...Oh, have redeemed the free Sony Home Theatre System but Chris haven gotten around to doing up the wiring, lol. Anyway, i have no dvds to watch also..im already addicted to the Star Movie channel. Star Wars, American Pie etc..damn gooda!

I haven gotten a home line yet...Nowadays in office, whenever im free, i start to count bills & budget here & there. Hopefully PB for March will be at least 0.5 so i can throw everything into the joint account. Lucky have spare cash else reali hard to survive.

One good thing abt my place now is there is no 'Fatimah'. Keke..can park anywhere & everywhere & wont kenna summons. But this situation wont be for long cos more & more ppl are moving in liao. Quite scary here at nite thou & when i see my neighbours online, they say their flats have bees!!!!! I slp with the MBR door locked at nite when Chris is not around..i keep hearing noises...sibei sian~

Err..Chris commented dat my arms look bigger now...I tink the worst place to try to slim down is the tummy, face, arms & thighs? Dats like nearly the whole body??! Swimming pool opens at 8am...shld i go? Have a workout or something lidat rather than rot at home...

Went Suntec Carrefour & bot a whole lot of crap..cheesecake, cheeseballs, white choc, coke...also bananas & cherries. Total crap...And i bot a cheapo $16.10 Fox polo-T! Sale now!!!! Actually costs $23.

Now home alone cos Kim Hock jio Chris for a mahjong session at Ivan's plc. Chris's mum also called Chris from Ivan's hse..they've got a home line already. Till now, im still rather reluctant to get a home line. Also realised i kenna chop when i bot my hse phone. Carrefour sells at $19.90 & i actually bot it at $30 at Boon Lay central. The stupid fucking bloody uncle wans to sell at $35 but i bargained till $30. Omg...and Carrefour sells at $19.90, stating dat orginal price is $29.90. Feel like killing myself...But i will kill him next cos im gona publicise his shop name in the forums.

My ID dropped by today to fix my door. I tink HDB reali shld go commit suicide or something. Even the main door wasen properly done. ID end up sanding the top part off cos everytime i try to open the door, i have to use ALOT of strength to get it open. If one day a pervert decides to attack me & i need to get myself into my own flat fast, i sure will kenna raped a thousand times by the time i manage to open the door.
